I'm magma. We are in the earth's mantle and the heat is incredible. Woah, I'm rising because of convection.
Convection is where liquid is heated up and rises. As it rises it will start to cool down because it is getting farther from the heat source. Cooling down will force me to experience crystallization.
Now I'm an igneous rock. Igneous rocks are formed when Magma cools.
Uh oh, I'm under pressure and exposed to heat again, but I'm not melting. This is how metamorphic rocks are formed.
Now I'm a metamorphic rock and I have risen to the surface. I'm experiencing erosion because of this awful weather.
Because of weathering and erosion I was turned into loose sediments. As more sediment layers pile up on me, I get squeezed together with other sediment. and become a sedimentary rock. This is called compaction. I'm also getting stuck to the particles, this is called cementation. Eventually, I will become a sedimantary rock.
