Fairfax: My dear nephew Danny Martin, my time here is coming to an end and I want to give you my prize land here in Virginia in the year 1781.
I hereby, on behalf of the Virginia Legislature, void Lord Fairfax's land grant. This land shall be returned to the state of Virginia and a portion will be given to you, David Hunter in this year 1782.
P.S. The Jay Treaty made it clear that Lord Fairfax was entitled to the land and all decisions made about it.
March 12-14, 1816 Court Case is being argued... The Supreme Court stated that the land belonged to Fairfax but Virginia courts refused to follow their decision.
Decide: March 20, 1816 The Justice Story affirmed that the Marshall Court could overrule Virgini's state powers.
Fairfax's land was taken away from David Hunter.
