I'm only doing what all of you have wisely advised
although my brother, the former king has just died, life goes on
That's why, I have married my former sister-in-law
Welcome dear Rosencrants and Guildenstern! I have sent for you because I know you both grew up with Hamlet and I'm sure you've heard of how he has "changed"... I need both of you to try and get information out of him and figure out the cause of why he is acting this way and report back to me
oh, my crime is so rotten it stinks all the way to heaven. A brothers murder...
Claudius (the character speaking) is the former kings brother, who he has secretly murdered . He is making his first speech to his people after killing Hamlet, becoming king, and marrying Hamlets wife. This is a significant scene because it shows how at the beginning he has no remorse about killing his brother, and the way he speaks in this scene shows that.
Claudius Act: 1, Scene 2
This scene is where claudius goes to Hamlets friends and tells them he needs them to watch hamlet and ask around and get information on why Hamlet is acting so strange. This really shows how Claudius is as a character.
Act 2, Scene 2
This is the scene that happens after the play Hamlet planned out... Claudius now knows that his dark secret of killing his brother is known. This is when Claudius's attitude completely changes. He sits in his room praying to be forgiven for what he has done. He is now scared. he states he is "still reaping thr rewards of that murder"
