  • Who is our target audience?
  • Age?
  • I prefer romances , I always end up crying.
  • Gender?
  • I love action films with the tense moments and explosions .
  • The factors of our target audience consist of age, gender, subculture and social class.
  • Subcultures and geographical location.
  • Age can determine our audience based on genre. As ours is a horror are target audience is teenagers and early to mid twenties. A reason for this is that due to the common conventions such as blood and gore and characters with similar ages and dilemmas as the audience which means they are able to connect emotionally rather than an older audience.
  • Class
  • The picture may seem stereotpyical however it puts the point across. Due to our genre based on statistics men would be a larger percentage of our audience. A reason for this is due to the conventions of anticipating suspense and our main character being male. So we had catered to mainly a male audience.
  • Ratings how did it change our idea and film script.
  • Peoples taste can vary due to location this has been evidently shown through things such as humour. An example of this is American humour differs greatly against British humour that is why one culture will find one film funnier than the other. We had considers this factor based upon our lack expenditure therefore set the film in Britain therefore appealing to a British audience.
  • I still don't see how location can change your target audience?
  • Class can determine genre based on your surroundings for example somebody from middle class may read a particular magazine different from maybe some one from first class so they may understand different topics. This applies the same to film that is why we had targeted middle class this was shown by filming in a middle class suburban neighbourhood.
  • We had chosen to make our film (12) this was because due to opening sequence of student film foul language can be considered undermining the film and for this genre there was no need. We had to be careful of the goriness to the film in order not to affect younger audiences. However his had made it easier for us to make the narrative more believable.
