  • IMPORTANCE TO AMERICA
  • I'm gonna explore it!
  • Now that you have all this land, Thomas, what are you gonna do with it?
  • WHO EXPLORED THE AREA?
  • LEWIS AND CLARK
  • WHEN DID THIS TAKE PLACE?
  • The Louisiana purchase was important to America because it gave us many of the Midwestern states we have now. It was apart of a purchase Thomas Jefferson made with Napoleon Bonteparte
  • INTERESTING STORY
  • Thomas Jefferson enlisted help from two explorers, Lewis and Clark. Lewis is on the right and Clark on the left.
  • NATIVE AMERICAN INVOLVEMENT
  • Will you help us on our journey.
  • This happened in 1803, and the first state to be made from the purchase was made in 1812
  • IN THE END...
  • While they explored, it is documented that they discovered a group of an animal the french called "Prairie Dogs" which is derived from the Greek for "Dog Mouse"
  •  On the journey, they enlisted help from a Native American called Sacajawea, who helped them with navigation.
  • Yes! I would love to.
  • In the end, 15 new states were made, and the Americas were expanded. Lewis and Clark will surely go down in history as American heroes.
