When Odysseus and his men are sailing across the seas, Odysseus stops to an island, close to the cyclopes, and spend 2 nights on the island. Odysseus then sees the cyclopes caves, and is curious to see one; he gathers his men, sail to the cyclops's island, and take his 12 best men with him into the cave. Wanting to take the valuables and livestock back on the ship, Odysseus tells his men they have to wait for the cyclops. When they see the cyclops, things get bad. The cyclops questions their being, and Odysseus answers, with a lie, where he came from & his reason for being. The cyclops then gets irritated by the men and eat 4 of his men. Odysseus comes up with the plan of escaping the cyclops's cave by stabbing the cyclops's eye and make a run for it. When the cyclops calls out for help after being stabbed in the eye, the other cyclopes ask who stabbed him in the eye, and the cyclops exclaims 'Nohbdy tricked me!' confused, the cyclopes leave him to pray to Poseidon for help. Unfortunately for Odysseus, his plan fails and is still trapped with the now more cautious cyclops. Odysseus then comes up with another idea, for his plan is to tie sheep around the men could escape by hiding under the sheep. Luckily for Odysseus, his plan is full proof, and they escape the cyclops's cave. Being overly-cocky, Odysseus exclaims to the cyclops from the seas that his name was Odysseus, the king of Ithaca. The cyclops now angry and in pain, he prays to Poseidon, wishing that Odysseus could never get back home, and there to be dangers if he's to ever reach home.
