Storyboard Text

  • However, diseases like Cholera are present, which originated somewhere along this river- the Ganges River! This disease is deadly if not treated, but is preventable by drinking clean water. In Stage 2 of the demographic trend the death rates greatly decline mostly due to the increase in sanitation found in the epidemiological stage 2.
  • Now, the scientist continues his journey to stage 3 in the demographic transition. Where medical advances are leading to decreased diseases but a rise in human created diseases.
  • "With the increase of technology vaccines are able to be created to prevent deadly diseases!" Professor said. However, now human created diseases are making an appearance, such as heart disease. One of the leading causes of death in America.
  • "This stage correlates to the Demographic transition as well," the professor began to say, "that is the link!" This is because since the CDR and CBR are leveling out, vaccines would mean an increase in the life expectancy and decrease in CDR. Within stage 3 of the Demographic Transition, that place is becoming more industrialized and leads to processed foods, causing stage 4.
  • Now we are in Stage 4 of the epidemiological trend. This is known as the degenerative disease stage because older people are becoming infected with degenerative diseases like cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer's. Junk food also contributes to poor health in individuals
  • This stage relates to stage 4 of the demographic transiton because the CDR and CBR are about equal and this could be because of an increase in health issues of the older population.
