  • Act 4 Scene 1
  • A child came wearing a crown with a tree in his hand said be brave and proud, don't worry about who hates and plots against you. You will never be defeated until Birnam Wood marches to fight you at Dunsinane Hill.
  • Act 4 Scene 1
  • A procession of eight crowned kings walks by and the last carrying a mirror. They look like Banquo. Macbeth wants to know the meaning, but the witches perform a dance and vanish.
  • Act 4 Scene 1
  • Lennox tells Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England. Macbeth decides to send murderers to capture Macduff's castle and kill his wife and children.
  • Act 4 Scene 2
  • At Macduff's castle Lady Macduff wants to know why her husband left. Ross tells her to trust her husband.
  • Act 4 Scene 2
  • After Ross leaves Lady Macduff tells her son, who is still loyal to his father, that Macduff was a traitor and is now dead. Her son does not believe her.
  • A messenger comes and tells Lady Macduff that she is in danger and should leave. Lady Macduff argues that she has done nothing wrong.
