  • A strange noise , and a bright light downstairs at mid-night. Who could it be? The main character , Jessie , has been awoken because of those two things. The year is 1840 in Clifton.
  • Jessie heads downstairs to see who it is , to find out it is her mother. Jessie's mother goes out at night sometimes to help sick children or people. The 2 patients she was treating today were very sick. Jessie begs to come along and her begging paid off.They are on there way to treat poor sick kids.
  • They get to the house to find out the two kids have diphtheria. That is when Jessie's mom asks Jessie to meet her in the woods , and if anyone asks where Jessie was going , Jessie must say that she is "picking herbs."
  • When Jessie arrives she sees her mother on the floor. She knows something is very wrong , Jessie's mom tells Jessie everything , that the real year is 1996 and that Clifton is replica of a historical village and now Jessie's mom's sister has got Diphtheria and wants Jessie to get the cure from a guy named Issac Neeley.
  • It takes Jessie a while to escape Clifton , she tries to go underground and has the risk of the guards seeing her but they don't. She meets up with Issac at KFC and he takes her to the apartment to attempt to drug her and kill her.She wakes up the next day and tries to escape.She finds the local newspaper to tell her the situation until she starts to faint from having the diphtheria.
  • Somehow Jessie ends up in the hospital.Jessie's mom is allowed to see Jessie in the hospital for a little bit. Jessie's mom & dad both don't get arrested instead when they are let go Clifton closes and Jessie lives in the year 1996 , lives with her parents , and attends regular school for a proper education.
