Storyboard Text

  • Act I- Brave, Loyal, Confused, and Uncertain/ Unsure
  • "If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me without my stir" (Macbeth, I, iii, 144-146).
  • Act II- Weak
  • "How is 't with me when every noise appalls me? What hands are here? Ha, they pluck out mines eyes, will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red" (Macbeth, II, ii,56-61).
  • Act III- Corrupt and Wanting More Power
  • "Your spirits shine through you. Within this hour at most I will advise you where to plant yourselves, acquaint you with the perfect spy o' th' time, the moment on't, for 't must be done tonight..." (Macbeth, III, i, 127-128).
  • As the Thane of Glamis fought in any many wars, Duncan describes Macbeth as brave and loyal. Although Macbeth was characterized as brave and loyal, Macbeth became confused and unsure of himself. The Weird Sisters told Macbeth about his prophecy of becoming a king one day. As the seed have been planted on Macbeth, he started to have deep thoughts about contemplating to kill Duncan.
  • Act IV - Guilt/Paranoid, Corrupt, and Secured Power
  • "Time, thou anticipat'st my dread exploits. The flighty purpose never is o'ertook unless the deed go with it"(Macbeth, IV, i, 144-146).
  • In Act II, Macbeth became weak because his mind started to fill with Duncan's loyalty to him making very guilty. Therefore Lady Macbeth came in to the play and started to manipulate Macbeth. Lady Macbeth came up with a plan to kill Duncan. What Macbeth only needs to do is kill Duncan with the guard's dagger after he hears the bell rings. As a result, Macbeth became very weak because he couldn't even say "amen" after "god bless".
  • Act V- Confident and Fearless
  • "Thou wast born of woman. But swords I smile at, weapons laugh to scorn, Brandished by man that's of a woman born"(Macbeth, V, vii, 12-14).
  • In Act III, Macbeth is finally a king, but his mind came across something. Macbeth remembers that Banquo's prophecy is about his son will become king someday. Macbeth doesn't have any children to pass his throne and he realizes that he didn't kill Duncan just to make Banquo's prophecy come true. Therefore Macbeth became corrupted by power and orders the murderers to kill Banquo and his son.
  • Macbeth's Downfall
  • In the beginning of act IV, Macbeth was paranoid about Macduff. Therefore he went out to find the weird sisters. The weird sisters would then tell Macbeth his first, second, and third apparition. The sisters told Macbeth to be bloody, bold, lion mettled, proud, and many more. Macbeth saw eight kings and Banquo was last. As the meeting ended with the sisters, Macbeth plan to kill Macduff's whole entire family and anything that stand against him to secure his throne.
  • "Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth" (Macbeth, IV, i, 79-81).
  • In act v scene vii, Macbeth was confident and fearless as he went out to the war because of his prophecy. Little did he know that Birnam Wood started to move towards Dunsinane. Therefore the scene would foreshadow Macbeth's defeat. Yet he did not care and still fought against Macduff. Macbeth would later find out that his prophecy was fake.
  • Macbeth's overconfidence towards the war has lead him to his downfall. After Young Siward was brutally killed by Macbeth, Macduff have finally met Macbeth. Macbeth refuses to commit suicide but also does not want to fight Macduff, having already killed so many members of Macduff's family. Macduff told Macbeth to surrender but as time passed Macbeth was killed by Macduff. Therefore leading to Macbeth's downfall as a tyrant.
