  • I Have A Right
  • The United States should not ever support the limitation of our rights in the name of National Security because we were given these rights for a reason. The U.S. should not get to choose when they should follow them. The U.S. is a free nation, and we should keep it that way.
  • Should the United States ever support the limitation of Constitutional rights in the name of National Security?

  • Innocent people are paying for things that they had nothing to do with. Even American citizens are being accused and tortured without having any rights. We are supposed to be guaranteed our rights granted by the Constitution. This shouldn't change just because of what we look like.
  • The year is 1942, and the U.S. just got involved in World War II. After the bombings at Pearl Harbor, soldiers came to take my family and I from our homes. Not only did they take us, but they took all Japanese and Japanese Americans. We are being sent to camps simply because of our race. We did nothing to harm or threaten the U.S. considering that 62% of us are American citizens by birth. Where are my rights?

  • After September 11, Muslims and other religions that people believed was the Muslim religion was discriminated and were thought to be terrorists. They were shot at and turned away by businesses and much more. Now, they are being threatened to be thrown out of the country. Our rights should not be taken away in the name of national security because of my religion. In the constitution, it clearly states in the first amendment, that each U.S. citizen has the freedom of religion.
  • After the September 11 attacks in 2001, I have been accused of being a terrorist because of my religion. This year's election (2016) one candidate said that he would build a wall and kick my race out. This is not right. I have my religious beliefs and they are not to harm . That plan would take away my rights as a U.S. citizen.

  • People with different skin colors were taken advantage of simply because of their race. This is a reason why we should not limit peoples' rights because we are supposed to be one nation as a whole. We are not supposed to separate ourselves from each other because we look different.
  • Starting in 1955, Martin Luther King Jr. led peaceful protests promoting non-violence that ended up with police officers beating and arresting many African-Americans. This was unconstitutional and was an example of racial profiling.
  • Overall, the United States should not limit our Constitutional Rights just because they live in fear. Roosevelt once said, "The only thing to fear is fear itself." This is hypocritical considering Roosevelt exercised racial profiling. The United States should think about what they are doing before they put a limitation on certain peoples' rights.
  • Conclusion
  • The U.S. should not limit the peoples' rights because...
