  • Alexander Hamilton was an American statesman and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Hamilton became George Washington's assistant in 1777.
  • Aaron Burr Jr. was an American politician. he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. presidency, and became vice president instead in 1800.
  • They fought in a duel. The reason the duel happened in the first place was because Hamilton thwarted Burr's attempt to gain re-nomination for vice-president. Hamilton accepted the challenge.

  • In the end, Hamilton was mortally injured and died the next day and Burr was accused of murder
  • Burr responded by challenging Hamilton to a duel
