When Teiresias comes out of the pit, he tells Odysseus that his voyage back to Ithaka will be fine and he will reunite with his wife and family. When Odysseus hears this he is overjoyed, but Teiresias tells him that if they touch any of Lord Helios' cattle, that will all change, and all his crew mates will die.
After Odysseus talk to Teiresias, he uses the chance to call upon his mother who he finds out has passed away while he has been on his voyage. He asks her how his family is at Ithaka, his wife and son. She tells him that they are well and the suitors are trying to get Penelope's hand in marriage so he hurries up to get home.
When the other souls in the pit started to come out guided by Persephone, Odysseus had no choice but to run or he would get overrun by their questions. He yells at his crew to cast off and soon they are on their way.
The Odyssey - Book XII
When Odysseus and his crew leave Kirke's island for the last time, she tells them who and what they will encounter on their voyage home. She tells them that they will encounter seirenes whose songs attract every ship that passes by and leads them to their deaths by crashing on the rocks.
On their second part of the voyage, they avoided the Kharybdis by hugging the mountains of the Skylla only to have the Skylla pluck five crewmen from the ship and devour them. However, Odysseus was able to steer the ship away from danger and not lose anymore crew mates.
