  • Arachne
  • Long ago there lived a mortal women named Archne. She loved to weave receiving praises of her work.
  • Archne began to brag of her skills as a weaver and claimed her work to be better than that of the goddess Athena's. Unconsciously challenging the goddess herself.
  • When Athena heard wind of this it angered her that a mere mortal dare to say such things, and took the challenge wanting to teach the women a lesson.
  • She made a deal with the mortal women named Archne. Which was the loser must never weave again, Archne agreed to this nonetheless.
  • Zeus was the judge of the competition of whether which Athena or Archne would win the better weaver. However a twist of events and Archne won!
  • Athena was enraged by this sadly for the mere mortal who wasn't expecting anything was turned into a spider by Athena out of anger and forced to weave for all eternity.
