Storyboard Text

  • I don't know what we are going to do, the crops were supposed to help pay for our own house
  • There has to be a way that we can live better
  • Bakery
  • Bakery
  • That sounds good to me, here
  • I can get you tickets to ride steerage on the next ship headed for America for a small payment
  • Look on the bright side, we get rations weekly and its only an 11 week trip , then we will be rich in America
  • But there is no room on this boat, we aren't allowed on the top  deck, and everybody down here looks sick. Ewe! Is that a rat!?
  • I don't like this house, it's to crowded
  • But  nobody wants to hire an immigrant
  • I will stop by the   Hull House tomorrow, you don't have to worry about a thing
  • I can get a job, then we will buy our own house
  • That sounds good
  • That doesn't sound like a good deal but we need money
  • There is only one job that I found available that would accept immigrant workers. Would you like to work as a strikebreaker for $8 a week and  work 38 hours a week.
  • Your husband got into an accident at work.   We did everything we could.  I am going to need $200 for the cost of the surgery
  • My husband just died and you want me to give you money!?
  • We tried our best but the job was an unsafe and that isn't our fault.  We need the money by next month
