The oracle tells King Acrisios that one day his daughter will have a son. That child will grow up to kill the king.
To get rid of his daughter and grandson, King Acrisios puts Danae and Perseus in a wooden chest and throws them in the sea.
Danae and Percy ended up on a island and a fisherman found them and took them to the castle. There, Danae had worked as a servant as a reward for the king for letting them stay in the castle.
When King Poly asked Danae to marry him, Danae rejects him because she loves his brother. So she makes an excuse up and says "I love no one else but my son."
King Poly invites Percy to come to the castle. He told Percy "Go get the head of Medusa and bring it to me."
So Perseus went looking for Medusa, following the King's orders. He was determined to get Medusa's head in order to save his mother.
