That is amazing! I also have similar struggles as an African American engineer. Often, I am the only black person in my classes. I feel like the culture I grew up in is very different than the culture that most other people grew up in. It is hard to connect to someone that looks/sounds nothing like you, but I am working on it. Maybe that is why employers are also looking for underrepresented races like mine. These candidates have had to teach themselves to relate and connect to other people, whom have different backgrounds than others.
I guess we can both agree that diversity in engineering is important because each person has unique talents and skills that contribute to a thriving, ever-evolving engineering community.
So can I get your number?
