The man on the right is Jeff. Jeff is a technician at the UW hospital in Madison, WI. Jeff was just fired by his boss for showing up late to work this morning.
Jeff is the main source of income for the Wilcox family and now that he was fired, he doesn't have that income to pay for items such as food, or health insurance.
As Jeff explains to his family about his departure from the hospital, he tells them that his income will be lower than it's ever been and that they must cut out some expenses.
After talking with the kids, Jeff and Angela talk about different expenses that they can cut out so that they can save money for other priorities. They finally decide that food is what they will cut out and they will apply for food stamps.
The next day, Jeff went down to sign up for food stamps. While he was there, Rick, the SNAP worker, explained that the average american applies for food stamps once in their lives. He also explained that Jeff and his family qualify for SNAP and that he will receive a SNAP card in the mail.
After 2 weeks of waiting, Jeff and his family received their SNAP card in the mail and they all went down to the local grocery store to purchase their food for a few weeks. While at the store, Jeff noticed a "now hiring" sign and he decided to apply. The next day he received a phone call stating that Jeff had been awarded a job at the grocery store. Jeff was now back on his feet and the family lived happily ever after.
