A group of people are in debate about love. Egeus, Hermia’s father, wants her to marry Demetrius, the man Helena, Hermia’s friend, loves. While Hermia loves Lysander, the man Hermia's father does not like.
Hermia runs of with Lysander, but tells Helena their plan. Helena finds Demetrius and tells him there plan in hopes of him loving her, but instead he follows Hermia into the woods, followed by Helena.
A love potion is cast on Demetrius and Lysander, so now they both love Helena and nobody loves Hermia. This must be fixed.
Puck, in an attempt to fix what he had done, separated the lovers and made them fall asleep to change Lysander back to his original love.
The Duke rides into the forest, and finds the group sleeping on the ground. After talking, he dicides that they may get married.
The play “Pyramus and Thisbe” is performed, and Puck ends the play by telling the audience to remember it all as if it were a dream!
