Once upon a time the Jews lived in peace with their neighbours in Israel.
Until one day Antiochus, King of the Greeks came a restricted them to worship of their unseen God and made them believe in the Greeks God's.
While the Greeks destroyed the sacred temple where the Jews worshipped, a man named Judah Maccabee formed an army called the Maccabee.
We need to continuing our teachings about Judaism and we wont let anyone destroy it.
Judah Maccabee lead his army to fight with the mighty and skilled Greek army. It seemed unlikely that the Jews would win because of how small and unskilled it was but in the end the Greeks were finally defeated.
When the Jews returned their temple was destroyed and the Menorah what broken! The Jews fixed the Menorah but there was only enough oil to last one day but they lit it anyway. Yet it burned for eight days.
The Jews fixed the Menorah and did their prays but their was one problem, they only had enough oil for one day until the next batch which would be made in eight days. They lit it anyway
