Long, long ago in the country of Israel, the people lived happily and in peace.
One day, a Greek king names Antiochus rode in with his people and demanded that the citizens of Israel follow his rules and worship his Gods.
One man named Judah Maccabee didn't agree and wanted to worship their one unseen God. Therefore, he brought together an army.
The Maccabee army of hundreds fought against the Greek army of thousands. Against the odds, the people of israel won. This was the first Miracle of Channukah
Unfortunately, while the Greeks were in charge, they destroyed the Jews holy building, the temple, Judah Maccabee and his army went to rest inside but when they looked, their Menorah, a sacred candle, had run out of holy oil. Sadly, it would take 8 days to make more oil and there was only enough for one day.
The Jews lighted the menorah, thinking it would only last for that one day. Miraculously, the candles of the menorah stayed on for 8 days! Just enough days to make more oil. This was the second miracle of Channukah and Jews all around the world light a Menorah on Channu to remember the miracles.
