Babies produce similar responses to people and objects - they do not seem to have a preference. Generally 0-6 weeks old
Babies are now able to tell people apart. They generally prefer people to objects but do not yet show fear of strangers or separation anxiety. They are relatively comforted by anyone and do not yet show preferences to specific people.
Infants now show separation and stranger anxiety. They from specific attachments to one particular individual (the person that shows most sensitivity to their signals) and use familiar adults as a secure base. (7 months)
Multiple attachments occur soon after the first attachment is made. the baby will show attachment behaviours to several different people. most children have multiple attachments by 18 months. The fear of strangers will start to awaken.
