  • Unwinds didn't go out with a bang, they didn't even go out with a whimper. The went out with the silence of a candle flame pinched between two fingers.
  • He does not deserve this. He has done many things, not all good, but he does not deserve this. And he never did get his priest.
  • Because if their own parents didn't care enough about them to keep them, who would want them in heaven.
  • Connor was in the basement of an antique shop with Risa and Ariana. They were talking about how it doesn't even matter when kids get unwound. This relates to the theme because it shows that no one cares about human life and that should change.
  • I'm not your son! I stopped being your son the moment you signed the unwind order!
  • Before this is said a close friend of Connor's gets unwound. In return he says this quote. This means that no matter what someone does they never deserve to go through that. Roland also asked for a priest before and they never let him see one. This relates to the theme because it shows that no one listens to unwinds and no one fulfills there needs and that their human life is not valued.

  • (1) I'm Scared. (3) I want you all to go to hell.
  • In this scene Connor are 3 other boys are getting transported to the graveyard. They are all asking each other questions they always wanted to know. This quote means that no one wanted unwinds. This relates to the theme because it shows that unwinds don't belong anywhere and no one cares about their lives.
  • Which is worse to have tens of thousands of babies that no one wanted or to silently make them go away before they were even born.
  • Before Connor is sent off he yells at his dad. This shows how the parents do not care for their kids and that once they signed the unwind order it basically showed they didn't have kids anymore. This related to the theme because it shows the relationship between families and the problems it causes showing that they do not care about each others lives.
  • This scene happens before Connor gets unwound. He tells the nurse that he does not like her and she is not surprised and she is used to it. This relates to the theme because it shows that the nurses do not have any sympathy for the kids and they do not care about the kids lives.
  • In this scene Risa is talking to Connor about how she feels about unwinding. What she says shows that n one cares for unwanted babies and parents will get them unwound and they will not care for them. This relates to the theme because it shows how some parents do not care for their children lives.
