Storyboard Text

  • At one time in the Swat Valley in Pakistan, girls were not allowed to go to school and get education. It is related to the theme because it shows that in some countries, not all people have there rights, and women are not treated equally. "The talibans could take our pens and books, but they cannot stop our minds from thinking".
  • You are not allowed to go to school because you are a girl.
  • Peace in every home, every street, every country. This is my dream. Education for every boy and girl in the world. My dream is to sit down on my chair and read books.
  • That is not fair. I have the right to go to school!
  • This is not fair! You do not acknowledge my hard work. All you do is earn all the money and boss people around.
  • Women in Swat Valley were not treated equally. Men did not acknowledge how hard women worked. Men though they had all the power. This relates to the theme because women are not treated equally. "Our men think earning money is where power lies, not the women who take care of everyone".
  • I have all the power and money!!!!! We are treated better than women.
  • Women is Swat Valley are underestimated. Men think that they can destroy anything, and one girl cannot fix it. This motivates Malala to change how people view women and there power and rights. "if one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it?" This relates to the theme because men think so lowly of women.
  • I will destroy everything!!!!!
  • Why can't one girl change it?
  • No woman spoke up for there right to get education. All were too scared. Malala stood up for everyone and spoke up. This relates to the theme because every girl was scared to speak and did not have the power to, but Malala stood up for here rights. "You have put the first stone on standing water".
  • Education is very powerful, especially when the Taliban are not educated. Being educated is very important. This relates because it shows how important education is. "Let us pick up our books and opens, they are our most powerful weapons"
  • Education is our most powerful weapon.
  • Malala speaks up for the people who have no voice or the people who don't want to speak up and are to scared. This relates because every girl thinks they are lower than men. "I raise my voice, no so I shout, but for those without a voice can be heard."
  • Girls have the right to get education! I will speak up for the people who have no voice
