  • The Battle of Saratoga
  • 90 Americans died and 440 British soldiers died in the end.
  • The Battle / Siege of Yorktown
  • Your land is surrounded by British and French troops!
  • There were 3 types of spying methods: ciphers and codes, masked letters, and black chamber operations. The most important American spies were Benjamin Tallmadge and Nathan Hale. The most important British spies were Benedict Arnold and Thomas Hickey
  • Valley Forge
  • OH dear! Let me help you and take care of your soldiers!
  • Yesterday I overheard that the British hired pirates to rob our suplies!
  • The British and American soldiers met at Saratoga a short while after Fort Ticonderoga had been captured. In the first battle at Saratoga the British soldiers had won but paid a costly price for their victory.The second battle at Saratoga was known as the battle of Bemis heights. And America had achieved a valuable victory over the British.
  • Women in the War
  • US vs. Great Britain and France Great Britain: Commander Charles Cornwallis Britain and France surrounded the Americans Negotiations led to Treaty of Paris
  • Africans in the War
  • The British will grant us freedom if we fight for them and survive.
  • But so will the Americans!
  • George Washington and his soldiers faced a lot of hardships when camping at Valley Forge. Martha Washington and other women helped the soldiers feel at home and hopeful.
  • Women could easily get a job working as a cook or maid and were viewed as harmless. They would talk with soldiers or listen to their converstions.
  • During the war, Africans were stuck deciding which side to fight for. Both sides promised freedom. The Africans did contribute to the war by fighting in many battles including Fort Ticonderoga and the Battle of Bunker Hill.
