Making G.R.E.A.T decisions project

Storyboard Text

  • The Hair Dye Dilemma
  • Hi! I'm Lizzie!
  • G: Give Thought to the Problem
  • What should I have her do? This is a hard decision to make!
  • What would you like me to do to your hair today Lizzie?
  • R: Review your choices
  • Should I follow the rules or break the rules?
  • Lizzie is a newly licensed teen who just drove herself to the hair dresser for an appointment. Her mother was supposed to meet her at the appointment, but is caught up at work and sends Lizzie alone. Her parents are very strict and Lizzie must decide what she wants done to her hair according to what they would approve of. She knows that they disapprove of hair dye, but she loves the idea of it. She must decide what to do.
  • E: Evaluate the consequences of each
  • If I go through with this, I could face many harsh punishments that could easily be avoided by following the rules.
  • Her hair dresser has just asked her what she wants done and Lizzie must think about what she should do. She needs to make a decision about her new hair style. Should she dye it or not? Will her parents approve? How would she be punished if she decided to go through with it?
  • A: Assess and choose the best choice
  • I would like a simple hair trim please!
  • That sounds good! Now we can get started!
  • Lizzie knows she can either follow her parents no hair dye policy or step outside of her comfort zone and do what she wants. She can either be punished for her actions and be happy with her looks or do what her parents want her to, avoid punishment, and have hair she does not really like.
  • T: Think it over afterward
  • I am so happy with myself for following the rules!
  • Lizzie's consequences for disobeying her parents would be getting grounded for six months with no driving or technology privileges.
  • Lizzie knows these harsh punishments are not something she really want to endure, so she decides not to disobey her parents, keep her normal hair color, and keep her freedoms. So, she tells her hair dresser that she just wants her hair trimmed.
  • At home later that day, Lizzie thinks back on her decision. She is happy with herself for making the great decision that she did and doing what her parents wanted.
