  • The Test of the Great Bow
  • Penelope gets odysseus's bow from the storeroom
  • This is the bow of Odysseus. I shall marry whoever that can string it and shoot it through the line of these twelve axes
  • I will set up the axes mother
  • Telemachus tries but fails. All the suitors also try but fail.
  • We have tried greasing and warming it
  • Odysseus assures himself of Eumaeus and Philoetius loyalty and reveals himself
  • I will treat you like Telemachus' brothers if you fight by my side against the suitors
  • It's Odysseus! Look at the scar on his foot!
  • Telemachus orders Eumaeus to give Odysseus, who is in disguise, the bow. All the suitors complain because they think that he can do it.
  • Odysseus easily strings the bow and sends the first arrow he shoots whistling through the twelve axes
