From 1485 to 1603, England was ruled by Tudor Monarchs. Although Tudors believed in divine right, they shrewdly recognized the value of good relations with Parliament.
As was the case when King Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church, and required Parliament to legalize his actions
He also frequently consulted Parliament after his inheritance had diminished due to numerous overseas wars.
When Elizabeth I took the throne, she also consulted with Parliament on important matters.
Due to her involvement with Parliament, Queen Elizabeth I became a popular and successful ruler.
