Storyboard Text

  • Susie: "I got to go, Mr. Harvey. This is a cool place, but I have to go."
  • Mr. Harvey: "I don't know why you think you're leaving."
  • Susie: " 'Hi,' I said. 'My name is Susie.' "
  • Holly: "I'm Holly. How long have you been here?'
  • Mr. Harvey: (happily) "Hi, how are you kids?"
  • Lindsey: (to Buckley) "Holiday is harmless he must not like Mr. Harvey. He gives me a strange feeling also."
  • Susie's red jingly hat is shown as a symbol of her mother's love because she hand sewed it and forced her to wear it due to the cold weather. Mr. Harvey murders Susie when she tries to leave. Her hat becomes evidence when found at the crime scene.
  • Mr. Harvey: "Mind if I dump this box of junk in before you fill the hole up. It does not have anything important in it anyway."
  • The theme of mortality is shown here because Susie is traveling through her heaven, and seems perfectly alive even though she was murdered. Susie states, "I met Holly on the third day. She was sitting on the swing set. Holly sat reading a book..."
  • Mr. Harvey: "Are you traveling alone? Need a ride?"
  • Teenage Girl: "Creep!"
  • The monopoly shoe is shown as a symbol because Buckley starts to carry it in his pocket as a way to cope with Susie's death. The theme grief is also shown here because of Buckley carrying around the board game piece, and because Lindsey misses Susie so much she will do whatever possible to solve her death case.
  • Mr. Harvey, knowing he was caught and had to flee, had the box containing Susie's body thrown into a sinkhole the town was about to fill.
  • Thinking he could continue his harsh ways Mr. Harvey tries to lure in another teenage girl.
  • After being hit with an icicle that fell from a tree, he fell off the edge of a ravine. The icicle had thrown him off balance just enough. This was ironic due to Susie's remark, "How to commit the perfect murder was an old game in heaven. I always chose the icicle: the weapon melts away."
