Storyboard Text

  • (4.1.106)
  • Thou shalt continue two-and-forty hours...
  • (4.1.53-55)
  • If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help, Do thou but call my resolution wise, And with this knife I'll help it presently.
  • (4.5.38-40)
  • Death is my son-in-law. Death is my heir. My daughter he hath wedded. I will die, And leave him all. Life, living, all is Death's.
  • In this quote Friar Lawrence is telling Juliet about his plan. Friar tells Juliet about this vial that will make her sleep for 42 hours, making it seem like she is dead. This is important because Juliet is desperately looking for a way out of her marriage with Paris so then she can be with Romeo.
  • (4.1.82-
  • Or shut me nightly in a charnel house, O'ercovered quite with dead men's rattling bones, With reeky shanks and yellow chapless skulls
  • In this quote Juliet is begging Friar Lawrence for help. She's saying that if Friar can't provide any advice, then he should at least call her plan wise. Juliet's original plan was to kill herself so then she wouldn't have to worry about marrying Paris. This quote shows how desperate she is to get out of her marriage with Paris.
  • (4.1.94-97)
  • Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And distillèd liquor drink thou off, When presently through all thy veins shall run A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse
  • In this quote Lord Capulet has just discovered that Juliet has died. While speaking, he personifies death and talks about death as if it were a person. He calls death his son-in-law and his heir. He also says that his daughter married death, and that everything will belong to death. This proves that he's personifying death because death can't actually do any of those things.
  • (4.5.110-15)
  • No money, on my faith, but the gleek. I will give you the minstrel.
  • In this quote Juliet is desperately trying to get the Friar to help her. She is willing to do anything in order to not marry Paris. She is telling the Friar that she'd rather be stuck in a grave with a bunch of dead people, rather than having to lie even more in order to live happily with Romeo. Juliet describes what she would see in the grave and her speech creates imagery.
  • I chose to blame Friar Lawrence for everything that has happened so far in the book. I did this because he is the one who agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet, starting the entire problem. I chose to show him offering the vial to Juliet because it shows him making the situation even worse by encouraging Juliet to "die". I blame Friar because he continues to make the lie bigger, and the situation worse for everybody.
  • For a drama term I chose a spot in scene 5 when Peter and a musician are used as comic relief. In these quotes, Peter is trying to make the musician sing. The reason comic relief characters are used in this situation is because this is right after Juliet has died. They are being used to make the situation less sad.
  • Then I will lay the serving creature's dagger on your pate. I will carry no crotchets. I'll re you, I'll fa you. Do you note me?
  • Then I will give you the serving creature.
