Lords of The Sea
The Vikings traveled using rivers and fjords to raid villages. Splendid farmland was hard to find in the late 700s. It was easier to raid other lands than farming. Vikings rsided England and Ireland in 793 for 60 years.
A viking names Floki went to a land a viking had already discovered. It was covered in ice so he named the land, "Iceland".
Erik, a banished man, found land that is full of green so he named it, "Greenland". During the summer of 485 he led 24 ships, only 14 made it. Erik was the leader of Greenland. Population: 3,000.
Thorvald, and his crew had sailed to explore Vinland. They spent 2 days there. The natives and his men went to battle. Thorvald had been hit with an arrow and was killed. He was then buried by their camp. The remainder said back to Greenland.
In 1020 Thornfinn and 140 men sailed to Vinland. They traded with the natives. For 3 years all was great, until the natives attacked since they didn't receive weapons. The vikings had enough, they packed their things and left Vinland.
