Storyboard Text

  • Principle 1: Genetic Variation
  • Principle 2: Overproduction and the Struggle to Survive
  • Principle 3: Differential Survival and Reproduction (Survival of the Fittest)
  • VS
  • There are two types of jellyfish and they both have tentacles that carry stinging cells. However, one type of jellyfish has more of these cells than the other.
  • Principle 4: Change in the Gene Pool
  • There are too many jellyfish in the ocean and not enough food for all of them. So, the jellyfish who have more stinging cells to capture prey survive and the other with the weaker cells die.
  • Adaptation
  • Organism: Jellyfish Environment: Ocean Trait Selected for: Stinging Tentacles Adaptation Types: Physical and Structural
  • Both types of jellyfish will go head-to-head to survive and reproduce. The jellyfish with more of the stinging cells will have a higher chance of surviving.
  • Biology
  • Name: Valerie Machado Period: 5
  • The jellyfish that has more of the stinging cells will be able to reproduce because it's easier for them to capture prey and protect themselves against predators. This will lead to a population filled with jellyfish with many stinging cells.
  • Unit: Principles of Natural Selection
