  • Southerners wanted slaves to be counted in the general population because there were a lot of slaves in the south.
  • Us Southerners want our slaves counted in our population.
  • The north wanted slaves not to be counted in the general population because there weren't a lot of slaves in the north.
  • That is not fair! That would mean the south has more representatives in the congress then the north.
  • The south wanted a more representatives in congress and weren't going to give up on getting their slaves counted for.
  • We want our slaves counted in our population and we wont't give the subject up until we get what we want.
  • Delegate Rodger Sherman proposed "The Three-Fifths Compromise."
  • We should count only a portion of each slave instead of what is being argued over: counting each individually.

  • he Three-Fifths Compromise was of the decision that three-fifths of a slave was counted. Depending on how many slaves a state had they either got a lot more people or a few more people to represent.
