I am a federalist and I do not believe in the Articles of Confederation and think they were very ineffective. Us federalist also want a National Gov. instead of being split up into singled states.
We are the anti-federalists and were the ones against a strong national Gov. because they began to threaten the rights of out common people here. Here, we also want free trades and not terrifs, but most importantly a Bill of Rights.
Here is where is we started The Great Compromise. This is where the bigger states were voting for the Virginia Plan because it would allow them to have a different number of delegates based on the states size. Smaller states on the other hand voted for the New Jersey Plan because that allowed every state ,no matter the size, the same number of delegates.
Up here in the Northern United States, we don't believe that slaves should be counted as vote for the south because that adds more votes to the southern states to get a better representation in the House of Reps.
Down here in the south, we all believe that slaves should be counted as a votes for more representations. We do fear if the slaves keep rising in numbers that they could soon rebel against us and cause mayhem against the U.S.
Between these two controversies with the North not wanting to count slaves and the South wanting too, We decided to make an article called the Three Fifths Compromise. Which states that a slave is indeed counted less that a white man but is still about half of one.
