Storyboard Text

  • The Great Compromise
  • Smaller states such as Delaware, Georgia and New Jersey.
  • I agree! We should follow the New Jersey Plan. All states need equal representation! We need more power in the states.
  • It is not fair if the bigger states, such as Virginia, get more representation just because the have more citizens! There should be an equal representation!
  • Larger states such as Virginia, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
  • The Virginia Plan is the right plan for country! It allows the National government to become more powerful and for representatives to be based off of population.
  • I agree with Washington! We need to base our representatives on the population!
  • Everyone agrees that it's a great idea, Roger!
  • Let us compromise. Why don't we have a bicameral legislature. To make the smaller states happy, we can have a Senate, with equal representation. And to make the larger states happy, we can have a House of Representatives with representation based on population of states.
  • Southern states with slaves, such as the Carolinas and Georgia.
  • Three Fiths Compromise
  • We should not pay taxes on the slaves in our states! That's ridiculous!
  • We should count slaves in our population. They are people living the states.
  • Northern states such as Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
  • Since we our states have very few slaves, we should be okay with paying taxes on them. It will not cost us a lot of money.
  • We cannot count slaves in the population because that will give the Southern states more citizens, but won't give us barely any.
  • We agree with this compromise!
  • Let's take the total amount of slaves in each state and take three fifths of that number and tax that and count that number for the population.
  • Why don't we compromise?
