  • I am an Anti- Federalists!! •I want a limited National Government because I am for a government controlled by ordinary citizens. •I support states banks. • I strongly insist on a Bill of Rights being included in the Constitution. •Patrick Henry, George Mason, and Sam Adams all agree with me. •We also wrote a set of essays in which we called them, The Anti- Federalist Papers by Cincinnatus, Brutus, et al.
  • ANTI-FEDERALISTS
  • I am a Federalists!! •I want a strong National Government because I am for a government controlled by wealthy, well-educated people. •I support national bank •I would like the Constitution to be passed as quick as it can, therefore I am against including a Bill of Rights in the Constitution. •Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay all agree with me. •We also wrote 85 essays named, The Federalist Papers by Publius.
  • FEDERALISTS
  • THE VIRGINIA PLAN •Two-house legislature (bicameral). •Representation to congress based on population. •Supported by larger states.
  • THE NEW JERSEY PLAN •One house legislature (unicameral). •Equal representation in congress. •Supported by smaller states who fears losing power in federal government.
  • GREAT COMPROMISE - The Senate number of representatives would be equal. - The House of Representatives would be proportional.
  • THE 3/5 COMPROMISE - 3/5 of the slave population would be count in population - 3/5 of the slave population would be counted for tax purposes.
  • SOUTHERN STATES -Wanted slaves counted in population to determine representation in the House of Representatives. -Opposed counting slaves for determining taxation.
  • NORTHERN STATES -Opposed counting slaves to determine representation in the House of Representatives. -Favored counting salves for determining taxation.
  • BILL OF RIGHTS - Includes the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. - 2/3 of the Congress has to approve the 'idea' within 7 years to ratify. - Written by James Madison and added in 1791.
