Storyboard Text

  • Southern States
  • Large States
  • Large states VS. Small states
  • That's not fair. Then each citizen in a small state would get more power than a citizen of a larger state. Representation should be proportional to population.
  • Just because we are small states, we should still have representation in the Legislature.
  • Northern States
  • Small States
  • The Legislature only needs ONE branch, with EQUAL representation from each state.
  • We think that there should be one branch of Congress that has equal representation from each state. That way the smaller states will not be overpowered.
  • The Legislature should have TWO branches, with PROPORTIONAL representation. It must be BICAMERAL.
  • We can have a BICAMERAL legislature. One branch can have EQUAL representation, and one branch can have PROPORTIONAL representation.
  • Maybe we can find a comprimize
  • Gasp!
  • You mean, stop fighting?
  • Do we count?
  • Slaves are important to your southern economy, they should be taxed.
  • Southern states VS. Northern states
  • Slaves should not be taxed. They are not equal to other people.
  • Slaves should be counted in population when we get representatives.
  • What? That doesn't make any sense. You're not going to let them vote, so why should they count for representation?
  • STOP ARGUING!!
  • We count
  • But...
  • End of discussion.
  • We'll count 3/5s of the slaves for population when determining the number of representitives for each state.
  • We don't
  • The slaves in this storyboard are portrayed as small only so that they can all fit, not due to any predigest on the side of the author.
