Calpurnia takes Jem and Scout to church and a woman name Lula gets mad for having whites at a colored church.
Jem and Scout wonder why the church doesn't have hymn books and how they can sing without seeing what they're singing.
Before they are allowed to leave, everyone has to pay a little extra to help support Tom's family
On the way home, Jem and Scout learn that the church doesn't have hymn books because they can't afford them and almost no one can read.

Calpurnia also tells Scout and Jem that she is older than Atticus, used to work at Finch's Landing, and that Tom Robinson got arrested for being accused of rape by Mr. Ewell.
When they get home, they find Aunt Alexandra on the front porch in a rocking chair.
