  • Twist Project By: Ashleigh Chermak
  • Imagery
  • The author shows a desparing tone when Doodle is dying and the narrator is trying to show his emotions through the text.
  • Style
  • The author uses words like prim and gleaming to make the reader "see" what he sees.
  • Theme
  • The color red was extremely important to the imagery of The Scarlet Ibis because in multiple instances in the story the author uses red to explain what was happening. Like when Doodle is bleeding red.
  • The author's style in The Scarlet Ibis is to entertain because there is no information given and there are made up characters involved.
  • The message the author tries to get across to his readers is that pride can hurt others. The more highly you think of yourself the worse off someone else will be.
