Storyboard Text

  • Northern States
  • 3/5ths Compromise
  • We want equal representation in Congress! The large states should not be allowed to count their slaves.
  • We want proportional representation and to count our slaves in our population! It is fair for us to count our whole population.
  • Southern States
  • Northern States
  • We will abolish the slave trade in twenty years. The Northern states deserve fair taxation, but the Southern deserve fair representation in Congress.
  • Southern States
  • The solution was for only 3/5 of the slaves to be counted. They would be counted for both representation in Congress and taxation on citizens.
  • Federalists
  • Bill of Rights
  • We need a constitution as soon as we possibly can. It does not matter if a Bill of Rights is promised or not. Our country needs order.
  • We should think about what could happen without a Bill of Rights. A constitution won't matter if our liberties have not been promised protection.
  • Anti-Federalists
  • Federalists
  • A powerful central government is what we need. Policies that favor trade, business and finance will help our country thrive. Tariffs will provide more jobs for our citizens.
  • If we have a weaker central government, the states will be able to run more independently. We must only revise the Articles of Confederation that contains policies that favor the middle and lower class.
  • Anti-Federalists
  • The Anti-Federalists agreed to the constitution, as long as a Bill of Rights would be added in the future.
