Storyboard Text

  • Slave State- I want to count slaves for a vote!! I also want to the slave trade to continue on forever!!!! If we count slaves we will get more representatives. Then if the slave trade continues forever they will help boost our economy and we will get more money.
  • Free States- I don't want to count slaves for a vote and I want the slave trade to end. We can't count slaves because all of history they have been property and we can't just change the rules for representatives. Plus if the slave trade ends it will not affect me because I live in a free state.
  • Let's make a compromise. How about we count slaves as 3/5 of a person and that will benefit the slaves states but not completely overpower the free states. Also we will end the slave trade in 20 years(1808). So the slaves states will get have a great economy for 20 years but when it ends the free states will be happy.
  • I am a federalist and I want the constitution ratified or approved. We need a stronger central government and no one group would dominate.
  • I could list so many things wrong with the Articles of Confederation. There was no standing army. Laws could not be enforced. There's no taxes. How many more problems do I need to list before we get the new constitution ratified?
  • I am an Anti-Federalist and I do not want to ratify the Constitution. It clearly will give too much power to the national government. If the national government has too much power it will become tyrannical like the British monarchy.
  • Lets add the Bill of Rights, then individual rights will be protected and the Anti-Federalist states will ratify the Constitution. The Bill of Rights are guaranteeing the protection of the people from a strong central government.
  • That's a great idea! The Bill of Rights seems like a great compromise (or agreement of this dispute by each side making concessions) for the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists.
