Sparta is located in the Southern Peloponnesus. It is in Greece.
Daily life in Sparta was filled with lots of physical activity. The Acropolis became the center of daily life.
Sparta had two kings. They also had what they called ephers. The kings and ephors made all of the laws. There were 30 members in the senate.
Boys left their families at the age of 7 and went to training camps for the army until they were 18. They then had to serve in the army until age 30.
The girls stayed at home and took gymnastics training. The women took care of the house and were expected to raise strong children. They also had fewer rights than the men.
The people of Sparta coulden't travel because they did not want to get different ideas from other places. They were afraid the new ideas would change their way of life.
