  • Miep and Mr. Kraler come to visit everyone in the annex for the first time in the new year. Miep brings cake for everyone but they can't agree on who should cut it. Then Mr. Kraler asks to have a word with everyone about some trouble with someone in the storeroom. Once they are done talking, Mr. Kraler and Miep leave, they all get into an argument and Anne storms off into her room. Peter sees that she forgot her cake so he brings it to her and they talk for a little while.
  • Scene 4
  • Peter and Anne are getting ready to go on a small date in Peters room. When Anne is ready, she walks over to Peters room and goes in. They sit and talk for a while and their parents are in the main room worrying about what they are doing in there. At the end when Anne is at Peters door ready to leave, they share a small kiss, and then she leaves.
  • Scene 5
  • Mrs. Frank caught Mr. Van Daan stealing food in the middle of the night. Everyone wakes up and they are arguing about Mr. Van Daan stealing food form the rest of them. In the middle of it all, Miep comes with good news. She says the invasion has come.
  • In the office there is a telephone ringing. Dussel begs Mr. Frank to pick it up because he believes that it might be Miep. Mr, Frank disagrees and does not pick up the phone.
  • Ring Ring Ring
  • It is back to the afternoon in November, 1945, when Mr.Frank started reading Annes diary. Mr. Kraler has joined them and they got coffee. Mr. Frank finishes reading the diary and the mood is much lighter than it started out.
