The time period was in 800 B.C. They were located in the Southern Peloponnesus.
The men would be taken from there families at the age of 7. They would be kept in the army until the age 18. After that they would go to the war at the age 30.
Girls do gymnastics and the women take care and raise strong and healthy children. Girls would do gymnastics so they could be strong in the body because they could not fight.
The people would trade from other villages and get goods and other daily life objects. They weren't allowed to travel, so they had to travel with near by villages.
The Spartan government made very strict rules. It was also the most admired government in Greece. The Spartan government had tight control and made it a strong city-state.
They were´t allowed tp travel because the leaders feared that the new ideas would bring unwanted changes to their society. For this reason, citizens were rarely allowed to travel.
