Storyboard Text

  • Good morning class today we are going to take a field trip inside a carbon atom!
  • NOO!!!
  • Yayyy!!!
  • All living things are made of carbon CO2 is a gas in the atmosphere. The carbon can be absorbed by a plant. Plants need CO2 which allows them to respire.
  • CO2
  • CO2
  • CO2
  • Woahh!!
  • CO2
  • The tree has shed its leaves and it will decompose in the soil. Plants use CO2 and sunlight to grow and to get food. The carbon dioxide becomes a part of the plant when the plants die they turn into fossil fuels.
  • Are decomposing and fossils and fossil fuels next?
  • Yes, decomposing and fossil and fossil fuels are next! You guys are really getting the carbon cycle!
  • CO2 is given off in the decomposing of dead animals and plants also.
  • Combustion gives off CO2. Combustion occurs when something is burning like a tree, wood and fossil fuel. When this occurs oxygen is used and carbon dioxide is a product.
  • Meow...
  • Then animal respiration gives off CO2 and this is one of the last stages that the carbon dioxide cycle is in. So Carlos, what was one of the things you learned in this field trip? Carlos? Kids? Wow, they left but you were listening, right? Cat? Sight.
