This story board covers the descriptions of the political rivals during the arguments over Indian removal.
What was the Trail of Tears?
We have to move to "Indian territory"
Then let's begin walking!
Andrew Jackson's Opinion on Indian Removal
Sir, some of our settlers are attacking Indian's
Who cares? We should probably have them removed, this is our land!
John Ross' Opinion on Indian Removal
They are asking us to leave our land, our homes! This land is rightfully ours, and even if we have to adapt to their culture we will keep it!
John Marshall's Decision on Worcester v. Georgia
It is clear that Georgia does not have the right to issue these laws and the should respect the Cherokee tribe.
I feel that Andrew Jackson was in the wrong for most of the time. He disobeyed his duties as the president to defend the constitution. In Georgia vs. Worcester, he didn't acknowledge the ruling and didn't defend the constitutional thing to do, all because of his opinion on the sunject. I truly believe that if we had a different president, that history would've been a lot different.
