I became a voyageur because of the money. I am leaving behind my wife and my cabin.
I have blister that hurt super bad, I have a sore butt, and my mouth hurts from getting punched. I feel homesick and I feel like I'm going to barf. I got in a fight with a man named Ted because he was making fun of me. I donated $5 to St. Annes church, and I prayed that I would have a safe trip.
I had to carry the canoe with Ted which made it a lot worse than it could of been. We fought about who was a better canoe men. I have been exercising for this trip but my hands hurt a lot and I was really hot out so sweat got in my eyes.
We decided to go through Lake Superior an I could tell you one thing it was not easy. The waves were huge and I got soaked and could barely move.
I was so relieved that we got to the Grand Portage. I got to eat a marvelous dinner and got to meet some Native Americans. I got to meet the chief his name was eagle. I got to stay there for a week it was really fun. I liked being able to sleep in.
I decided to winter it because we get more pay and I have nothing to get back to because I dumped my wife and lost my cabin. So far being a voyageur was pretty fun and bad at the same time. Ted is wintering to but I will still go. So far wintering is really hard and really cold but I think I can make it
