Storyboard Text

  • Hello kids today I will show you how to add fractions
  • First you need to make the whole number into a fraction. 3 1/4 should becomes 4x3+1=13. So the fraction becomes 13/4
  • The new problem is 13/4+3/5. Inorder to add fractions you need to have a common denminator.
  • After we add the fractions together we get 77/20 which needs to be made into a mixed number you do that by dividing 20 into 77. that is 3 of the amount left from 77,77-60=17 so our mixed number becomes 3 whole with 17/20 ths left over 3 17/20
  • To get the common denominator we must get the same number on the bottom. 4x5 and 5x4 =20. 13/4 x 5/5= 65/20 3/5 X 4/4= 12/20 The new problem is 65/20 x 12/20
  • Next we need to add the top numbers together since we have the same common denominator 65/20 + 12/20 = 77/20
