  • Me too!
  • I cannot wait until PreCal Trig. With Mr. B
  • G*f=g(f) f(g)=f*g
  • Today class we are going to be learning about composite functions.
  • Composite functions are generally represented by the variables f and G
  • •g*f=g(f) •f(g)=f*g •f(g(x))= f*g(x) •g(f(x))= g*f(x)
  • You can plug numbers in for f or g, and find a solution, or they can be equations that can be assembled from information given at the beginnig of the problem
  • Be sure to know that they can be written either way and they mean the same thing.
  • f(g(2)) f(x)=4x+2 : g(x)=x^2 +x+1
  • Here is an example of a composite function
  • g(2)=2^2 +2+1 g(2)=4+3 g(2)= 7
  • From there plug 2 in for the x's in the g(x) equation and solve
  • When we solve we get 7 for g(2)=7
  • f(7)=4(7)+2 f(7)=28+2 f(7)=30
  • Now that we know that g(2)=7 we plug in 7 in the f(x) equation
  • Now we know that the solution to the problem is 30
