David became a voyageur because his family was in need of money. David is leaving behind his family so his family will not go poor.
David was doing good after leaving St. Annes. David got along just fine with his brigade. His muscles were sore and blisters were throbbing. Yet David was not homesick, he still missed his family back home.
Looking up ahead David saw rapids which meant either portaging or going through them. They didn't portage we went through the rapids. It was like riding a wild bull almost, except we did not fall out of the canoe.
Crossing over Lake Superior was no hard fuss except for the long paddling. David was suprised at how going over the middle of the lake was more easier after not getting big heavy waves.
David and some of the others were suprised at how small and big it was. David was so realived he made it this far and not have been swept out of the canoe.
David thought it was time to come back home to his family and help out with chores that were possibly waiting. He also thought if he would sign next year and the answer was that he would not.
